|6| Individual Development: Parasitic Architecture |

As I progress my individual ideas in collaboration with my group development the idea of Parasitic Architecture has become a core focus I hope to pursue over the coming week and into my final design. I found an interesting reading on Parasitic Architecture by Merel Pit, Karel Steller and Gerjan Streng. See link below and my personal note and ideas taken.

|6| Panel Development Meetings Week 5-6 |

Over the last few days we have been meeting as a group to discuss our strategy further in preparation for our week six presentation. We have been discussing in detail lately our ideas about infrastructure and planning and how we can use this to form part of our strategy for mobile architecture.

The second panel for us closely links to the architectural identity and purpose through our theme of mobile architecture. Our development over the past few days has been positive and our progress towards achieving a well resolved set of panels for the end of this week is achievable.

Im feeling confident and believe our panels will look effective and explain our processes and strategy clearly.

|6| Mobile Diagramming |

For the mid term presentation boards I drew up a series of diagrams which would explain our views and visions towards the idea of mobile architecture. Each diagram represents my values of this architectural mode and how it can or should respond to the identity and landscape for a future Parliament.

|6| Mobile Strategy Development Ideas |

The following scans represent my continued individual thoughts and ideas towards the concept of Mobile Architecture and the Strategy of the Australian minority.....

Here is Panel 1 development to date by Beau Davis.....It is our analysis of Canberra functioning as a capital city for Australia.

This is the initial version....

|5| Parliament: Analysis Diagram |

Here is an initial diagram of current Parliament and the issues associated with its function..... This should be placed on Panel 1 after further refinements.

Here is my thought process towards developing a response about Parliament today and how Mobile Architecture can provide a new improvement to the existing system...

Here is my Panel 2 initial collage to date....This has been designed to represent the change of infrastructure and development from urban Australia to rural Australia.

|5| Week 5 Reflection |

Architectural Investigation
Architectural Presence and Identity
This week was our final tutorial before next weeks mid-term presentation. As a group we decided to focus initially on the theme for the week “Architectural Presence and Identity”. From this our initial strategy developed last week “forgotten voices” was able to reform and refine into a new strategy of;
“Architecture for the Minority”
This idea focuses around the community of individuals living outside of urban areas. We proposes a mobile parliament network that integrates them equally with the urban individuals.
I believe this forms a strong strategy when looking at presence and identity through the values rural Australia holds both nationally and globally. Australia's primary identity is largely known for the indigenous people, deserts and farming not for Canberra and the current Parliament. By integrating a system that includes rural communities more heavily I think a strong Australian Architectural identity has the potential to be established.
Our group is progressing our ideas and concepts well in preparation for next weeks presentation. We have scheduled a series of meetings and outlined bodies of work for each member needs to do over the next few days.
Individually I have been further thinking about my own concept which will develop from our refined strategy. I have been doing a lot of research and a series of readings around the idea of Parasitic Architecture. I believe that this is a form of mobile design which I want to investigate and use as a base point for my final design.
As the next few days progress I hope to add my development in regards to both group and individuals developments.

|5| Week 5 Further Development Progress |

After the tutorial, I continued thinking and developing my ideas about Architectural Presence and Identify. I created these maps as a guide to show my thoughts and provide a starting point for our panel three development...

|5| Week 5 Tutorial Progress |

Here is my week 5 tutorial ideas, concepts, directions and developments from our discussions about Architectural Presence and Identity. These mark the final tutorial before the mid term submission and conclude the information to be gathered for the final panel....

|5| Mobile Exemplar: Sean Godsell |

Here is one of my core exemplars for this project and an example of a mobile architecture. I purchased this book "Works and Projects Sean Godsell" as his style very much interests my personal tastes. Sean is an Australian Architect who displays a modern from of Australian identity through his work.... This project shows the use of a shipping container in a unique method which through the existing infrastructure could be easily transported.

|4| Mobile Strategy Development |

Here is some of my development from the last week. I have really tried to think hard about the project strategy and worked within my team to generate ideas. These drawings outline my thought process about mobile architecture and parliament in the future...

|4| Week 4 Reflection |

Architectural Investigation
Architectural Types and Purposes
This week I was allocated to my first preference of the mobile theme. During the tutorial I formed a group with three other students who are now my team to develop our mid term panel for presentation.
As I reflect on the past week where I have been working within a group I have been able identify a swift development of my mind-set for this project. This week we began to look at the architectural types and purposes. Because it was our first meeting as a group we also decided it would be best to look at the previous weekly topics and refine them also. Through this process we came up with the idea of the 'forgotten voices' and a strategy of parliament that would seek to ask rural/ isolated Australians about their views.
Through the theme of mobile architecture this strategy seemed to align and from this our development was refined further. Over the course of the week we have thus been researching, refining and establishing a set of parameters around this idea to develop our final presentation.
We do expect however that over the coming week or two that this idea may change of further refine into a more specific and encompassing strategy to respond.
This concept and strategy really relates to my personal values of wanting to create an iconic Architecture that is centered around a rural landscape. Hopefully I can begin to develop my individual thoughts about this over the coming days further. I will look at some exemplars which will hopefully provide me with a starting point for mobile architecture.

|4| Mobile Exemplar: Unbuilt Masterworks |

Here is an example of Mobile Architecture through the form of a boat. This exemplar idea was found within a book I own called "Unbuilt Masterworks of the 21st Century" by Will Jones. The idea provides a different approach to architecture through the forms of water rather than land.

|4| Mobile Exemplar Development |

Here is a few exemplars of mobile design from OMD: Jennifer Siegal. They each represent different ideas and concepts but are examples of someone who is already beginning to push boundaries in relation to design and how things function. A core exemplar for mobile is the following....

|4| Exemplar Projects: Flexible, Robert Kronenburg |

Here is a series of different image scanned from the book "Flexible Architecture that Responds to Change" by Robert Kronenburg. each image holds a different inspiration to me and I will describe this underneath each image.

The above image to me represents a form of mobile architecture through its flexibility in location and spatial arrangement.

This above images represents the idea of a "base". When the mobile architecture arrives and/or inhabitants it becomes activated and the architecture changes.

This above image represents flexible architecture through its ability to adapt, refine and reform. Its also really simple in materiality which combines with the unique form making it an architectural icon.

The images represents the activation of a building through inhabitance and interaction.

The above two images are a perfect example of mobile architecture. The images show a truck and trailer which expands and forms a moveable space for people to interact with, in any location, at any time.

The above four images all represent other forms of mobile architecutre. Each of the examples have the ability to be moved and reformed at any location. The mode of transport and infrastructure thats gets them there is the only difference. This could be fixed infrastructure or rely on something external to achieve this mobility.....
